  • Baja Designs Optimum LED Lighting

Baja Designs is an industry leader in off-road lighting. For over 20 years, they've designed premium quality lighting solutions for military, agricultural, marine, industrial and consumer use. The company creates and innovates to provide brighter, bolder lighting for all applications.

    Baja Designs' CopperDrive System

Baja Designs understands its top industry ratings depend on its ability to build quality internals; not just yield light output. Their quality process begins in the LED light itself. CopperDrive is the LED management system BD uses to manufacture a superior product. The CopperDrive system uses next generation circuit boards and driver technology to run LEDs effectively and safely at a true 100%.

Four levels of thermal management transfer heat up to 3000% more efficiently. BD provides an extra layer of vibration isolation to truly take the best LED on the market to the next level. They use copper in their circuit boards (instead of aluminum) to transfer heat at a super efficient rate. The thermal gap plays an important role in aiding the transfer to the heatsink, keeping your LEDs cool during use. The CopperDrive also includes microprocessor-controlled thermistors that constantly monitor the LED temperature. This process ensures brightness and longevity.

    5000K Daylight

Anyone who has experienced driving with a well-designed LED headlight knows that a halogen bulb is far inferior. LEDs reign supreme for increasing your field of view. And they produce a more relaxing light for night driving.

Human eyes see best at noon on a sunny day. On the Kelvin Color Temperature Scale that time and light equates to 5000° Kelvin. This color reduces driver fatigue and increases terrain recognition. Baja Designs exclusively uses 5000K LEDs to give you the highest performance and safest driving experiences possible.

    Baja Designs' MoistureBlock Technology

Waterproof, rainproof, and submersible are three more qualities that make Baja Designs an industry leader. The combination of O-ring seals and Baja Designs' proprietary cord technology, creates superior water blockage. The O-ring seals much more effectively block water than beads of silicone. And the BD cords completely prevent water from wicking its way up the cord into the light.

Even if the connector is cut off, the lights are still waterproof and your warranty remains intact. Weather elements play a key role in LED light performance. Since conditions are often less than ideal, MoistureBlock keeps the top-of-the-line auxiliary lights functioning properly in all weather conditions.

    Baja Designs' Interchangeable uService

Baja Designs uses a truly all-inclusive manufacturing process. Since they use o-rings instead of silicone seals, the BD's lighting allows you to interchange your lenses for a variety of applications. You can change beam patterns with ease.

Light patterns in LED lights sealed with silicone are not interchangeable. In this case, a rock chip is either something you have to live with, or you have to return it directly to your light supplier for repair. With BD lights, you simply unscrew the water and dust proof lenses, change the o-ring over, and reapply the ring that holds the lens in place.

    Baja Designs' ClearView Optics

While focused on providing the safest and most effective light output, BD also must build a lens that does not cloud to ensure optimum light passes through. This may seem simple, but imperfections in a lens (or one made with inferior materials) will lose light in the pass through.

ClearView is Baja Designs' proprietary optic. The BD ClearView provides more usable light patterns than any other manufacturer's optics. Baja Designs gives you light for every zone and the scientific data to back it up. Racing engineers with first hand knowledge (about what each optic must contain to be the most successful in its application) design ClearView in-house at Baja.

They design each optic to illuminate one or more of the eight specific lighting zones. BD’s Wide Cornering and Wide Driving patterns were the first HID and LED lights to offer both a horizontal cut off, coupled with a wide pattern. This ensures the light is usable in fog or dust, without causing blinding back-scatter. It also fills the crucial cornering zone so you don't feel like you are driving in a tunnel.

BD’s High Speed Spot has revolutionized LED lighting by truly achieving the distance of an HID with the smoothness of an LED. Other patterns available are Driving, Spot, Flood/Work and Dome/Interior. Amber patterns are also offered. See all the patterns and zones Baja Designs covers below!

“The ultimate goal of lighting is to provide a smooth field of light so the driver can drive quickly with minimal fatigue. My engineering and racing knowledge combined with the feedback of our professional racers and drivers has allowed us to develop the best optics in the industry.” – Alan Roach, Baja Designs Engineer, Founder and Racer.

Mojave Sand EXT - The Jeep Truck of Today

While Fiat Chrysler is slated to release a Jeep Wrangler Based Pickup Truck in 2018, the only current offerings are the AEV Brute, MOPAR JK-8 (discontinued), or the JK-EXT. If you want a Jeep pickup, the EXT keeps the stock wheelbase of the JK Unlimited, and retains the crew-cab. The truck bed is now where the old cargo-area was, and voila! You now have a Jeep truck! Furthermore, the new hard-top is still removable, so you can keep the open-air function of the Jeep. In addition, the doors are still removable, so you can remove them or add your favorite set of tube doors!

  • New 2017 Jeep Wrangler

A First, LED Headlights for the 2017 Jeep Wrangler!

There are a couple upgrades for the 2017 Jeep Wrangler, making its debut soon! Factory LED Headlights and Fog Lights are a first for the Wrangler in 2017. This lighting upgrade is offered as standard for the Sahara and Rubicon, and is optional on the Sport model. With the JL slated for 2018, Jeep didn't change much from the 2015 model, but the LED headlights are a welcome change. Most automakers have offered LED headlights for the past couple years. However, Jeep owners have had to upgrade to aftermarket products, until now. With 2017, Jeep Wrangler enters the list of vehicles to include these lighting upgrades. Shown below is our first 2017 JKU Wrangler, complete with factory LED Headlights!

2016-jeep-wrangler-mojave-sand-front-passenger-cornerWhile some may still prefer the aftermarket, the OEM LED's are certainly an improvement over the old headlamps, shown above. The new OEM LED's, shown below, bring the Wrangler up to par with other modern automobiles. LEDs are more energy efficient and offer higher light output than the old bulbs. As such, growing automotive trends in lighting over the past couple of years indicates that LEDs are fast becoming popular on mainstream vehicles, both in auxiliary lighting and headlights themselves.

The 2017 Jeep Wrangler has a few other new features, such as an optional cold weather group. This package couples previous options such as slush mats and an engine block heater with BFGoodrich KO2 tires, for those living in colder climates. Other options may vary for the cold weather group, depending on model. Shown on an upgraded JK-Unlimited, the BFGoodrich KO2 tires provide exceptional traction and control in snow and sand. The long tread life associated with BFGoodrich tires also applies to these All-Terrain KO2's. If you're looking for a great all season tire, the cold weather group may be worth consideration.

An upgraded 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited, shown below, with aftermarket upgrades. While upgrades like a lift kit and tires will enhance off-road capabilities, it's not a bad idea to order some factory upgrades with your Jeep. Accessories like the engine block heater may be easier and cheaper to order from the factory, rather than to source an aftermarket model, for example. An engine block heater is perfect in the mountains. This accessory really comes in handy during winter storms, like the ones we get in Boone!

TJ Brute: Utility of the Pickup with the Function of the Jeep

For those unfamiliar with the Brute conversion, this kit by AEV couples the Jeep with a pickup bed, for the best of both worlds. The utility of a pickup with the function of the Jeep! Furthermore, the TJ Brute still retains a removable hard top design. Because of this, you can use the half doors (or no doors at all!) with the top off, for that open air feel of the Wrangler!

    2006-custom-jeep-wrangler-brute-khaki-half-doors

Also, while the wheelbase is stretched for the Brute conversion, the off-road capabilities of the Jeep remain the same. This version sports a 2" OME (Old Man Emu) suspension lift and 33" All-Terrain tires, perfect for camping trips or more serious off-road excursions. Furthermore, this TJ Brute also features a Superwinch 9k winch and a Smittybilt front bumper. A pair of KC auxiliary lights comes mounted to the bumper hoop.
