A heavy-duty petroleum-based gear oil with API GL-6 specification is essential for the high-offset hypoid (high shear) design of 9-inch ring and pinion gears. Using synthetic or GL-5 specification gear oils may lead to accelerated gear wear, increased heat buildup, and internal component damage, resulting in a voided Currie Warranty.
