Baja Designs Optimum LED Lighting

Baja Designs is an industry leader in off-road lighting. For over 20 years, they've designed premium quality lighting solutions for military, agricultural, marine, industrial and consumer use. The company creates and innovates to provide brighter, bolder lighting for all applications.

Baja Designs' CopperDrive System

Baja Designs understands its top industry ratings depend on its ability to build quality internals; not just yield light output. Their quality process begins in the LED light itself. CopperDrive is the LED management system BD uses to manufacture a superior product. The CopperDrive system uses next generation circuit boards and driver technology to run LEDs effectively and safely at a true 100%.

Four levels of thermal management transfer heat up to 3000% more efficiently. BD provides an extra layer of vibration isolation to truly take the best LED on the market to the next level. They use copper in their circuit boards (instead of aluminum) to transfer heat at a super efficient rate. The thermal gap plays an important role in aiding the transfer to the heatsink, keeping your LEDs cool during use. The CopperDrive also includes microprocessor-controlled thermistors that constantly monitor the LED temperature. This process ensures brightness and longevity.

5000K Daylight

Anyone who has experienced driving with a well-designed LED headlight knows that a halogen bulb is far inferior. LEDs reign supreme for increasing your field of view. And they produce a more relaxing light for night driving.

Human eyes see best at noon on a sunny day. On the Kelvin Color Temperature Scale that time and light equates to 5000° Kelvin. This color reduces driver fatigue and increases terrain recognition. Baja Designs exclusively uses 5000K LEDs to give you the highest performance and safest driving experiences possible.

Baja Designs' MoistureBlock Technology

Waterproof, rainproof, and submersible are three more qualities that make Baja Designs an industry leader. The combination of O-ring seals and Baja Designs' proprietary cord technology, creates superior water blockage. The O-ring seals much more effectively block water than beads of silicone. And the BD cords completely prevent water from wicking its way up the cord into the light.

Even if the connector is cut off, the lights are still waterproof and your warranty remains intact. Weather elements play a key role in LED light performance. Since conditions are often less than ideal, MoistureBlock keeps the top-of-the-line auxiliary lights functioning properly in all weather conditions.

Baja Designs' Interchangeable uService

Baja Designs uses a truly all-inclusive manufacturing process. Since they use o-rings instead of silicone seals, the BD's lighting allows you to interchange your lenses for a variety of applications. You can change beam patterns with ease.

Light patterns in LED lights sealed with silicone are not interchangeable. In this case, a rock chip is either something you have to live with, or you have to return it directly to your light supplier for repair. With BD lights, you simply unscrew the water and dust proof lenses, change the o-ring over, and reapply the ring that holds the lens in place.

Baja Designs' ClearView Optics

While focused on providing the safest and most effective light output, BD also must build a lens that does not cloud to ensure optimum light passes through. This may seem simple, but imperfections in a lens (or one made with inferior materials) will lose light in the pass through.

ClearView is Baja Designs' proprietary optic. The BD ClearView provides more usable light patterns than any other manufacturer's optics. Baja Designs gives you light for every zone and the scientific data to back it up. Racing engineers with first hand knowledge (about what each optic must contain to be the most successful in its application) design ClearView in-house at Baja.

They design each optic to illuminate one or more of the eight specific lighting zones. BD’s Wide Cornering and Wide Driving patterns were the first HID and LED lights to offer both a horizontal cut off, coupled with a wide pattern. This ensures the light is usable in fog or dust, without causing blinding back-scatter. It also fills the crucial cornering zone so you don't feel like you are driving in a tunnel.

BD’s High Speed Spot has revolutionized LED lighting by truly achieving the distance of an HID with the smoothness of an LED. Other patterns available are Driving, Spot, Flood/Work and Dome/Interior. Amber patterns are also offered. See all the patterns and zones Baja Designs covers below!

“The ultimate goal of lighting is to provide a smooth field of light so the driver can drive quickly with minimal fatigue. My engineering and racing knowledge combined with the feedback of our professional racers and drivers has allowed us to develop the best optics in the industry.” – Alan Roach, Baja Designs Engineer, Founder and Racer.
